Things That Concern Me: Summer 2013 Edition

It’s almost the UNofficial end to summer. I capitalized the UN because last year I saw people writing on Labor Day that summer was “officially” over, and it burned me to my core, at first I thought it was the tacos I had for lunch, but then after further investigation I realized, the burn was in fact due to the inaccurate use of the word official. I wish I could tell you the majority of my thoughts and concerns this summer were deep and meaningful, but they really weren’t. I’m not saying I haven’t thought Trayvon Martin or Christopher Lane. I’m not saying I haven’t thought Syria and where it is exactly or what the climate is like. I’m just saying there are other things that I think about more often and probably more passionately about. Example: I have thought about the tough Outstanding Drama Series category for the Emmy’s more than what I’ve just mentioned. I’m not kidding you, that category is more Sophie’s choice, than the actual  Sophie's Choice ( because there’s five, not ...

How to Avoid Creating Rage-Filled People.

Recently, I've been consumed by an uncontrollable rage.  It's peculiar because I'm a laid back and super easy person to get along with, like super...easy.   I'm not really sure where it's coming from.  I try to give every one the utmost respect and  maybe get some back.  In actuality I don't really expect it in return, because I have incredibly low self-esteem and don't believe I deserve respect, but hey, that's my issue. I don't know, maybe it's karma?  Am I getting what I deserve because I used to drink in high school and steal candy from the grocery store?  (My friends made me do it, seriously).  Or maybe it's because I hit that pregnant lady with my car during my first senior year of college? Maybe I'm mean spirited person?  I thought for the most part, I kept that in check by keeping my sociopathic and insensitive thoughts in my head and only saying them out loud to my best friend ...

Movie Review: Love and Other Drugs

Image
I've decided to add movie reviewer to my resume.  Here is my first one. Last night I went to see 'Love and Other Drugs' starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal with my sisters.  When I say 'sisters' I mean my actual 'sisters' not to be confused with my 'sistas' Anyway a brief synopsis about this movie.  It is basically about love and drugs, not bad drugs, just zoloft, prozac, and viagra. My review: Jake Gyllenhaal is the most under appreciated actor of our time.  I've totally taken him for granted will never do so again... clearly... If you like what you see here, go see the movie. p.s.  Anne Hathaway is good in it too.
